The Veteran Friendly Framework for care homes

Royal Star & Garter and the Royal British Legion, in partnership with the NHS, are working together on a programme for all care homes nationally to recognise and support the veterans that they care for.
  • It has been recognised that most non-military care homes have unidentified veterans within their care who, as a result, are missing out on recognition, support, and signposting to a wide range of statutory and charitable services to support their individual needs.
  • The Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) is a free-of-cost programme that provides full support and the resources to enable homes to achieve VFF status. The programme supports care homes to become veteran aware and to receive recognition for their work.

The VFF has been recognised by the CQC as a quality improvement initiative, and homes are encouraged not only to achieve VFF status, but to keep an evidenced record of the improvements that they make in support of their Armed Forces residents, and their spouses/partners.
